Add Some Colour to Your Life with Dylon

As another season approaches the thoughts of redecorating our homes and updating our wardrobes enter most of our heads. We all want this seasons must have colours but our budgets don’t always allow us the luxury. With upcycling so on trend now the solution lies in Dylon Fabric Dye.

Dylon is a home dye which is quick and easy to use. The range consists of machine dyes and hand wash dyes, which are avaible in a large range of beautiful colours. Dylon is suitable for use on fabrics such as cotton, linen, viscose, polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose mix.  It is perfect if you want to transform a room by simply dying your bedding, curtains or cushions. You can also add life back into those old faded jeans by using the colour Jean Blue. If you have a top, dress or skirt that you feel you have worn to death why not transform it by dying it with Powder Pink, Tulip Red or Bahama Blue.

Dylon Dye is so versatile it can even be used on canvas shoes so why not get those plain shoes and match them to your or your child’s outfit perfectly by choosing from the array of colours.

To use Dylon machine dye simply follow the following steps:

  1. Add dye (and salt if it is not the dye with added salt) then the fabric to the drum
  2. Run a 40°C cycle
  3. Run a 40°C cycle again to wash and rinse the fabric and machine.

To use the Dylon Dye for hand wash:

  1. Weigh dry fabric, wash thoroughly and leave damp
  2. Using rubber gloves to protect your hands, dissolve the dye in 500ml of warm water
  3. Fill the bowl/stainless steel sink with approximately 6 litres of warm water (40°C)
  4. Stir in 250g (10tbsp) salt. Add the dye and stir well
  5. Submerge the fabric in the water
  6. Stir for 15 minutes, then stir regularly for 45 minutes
  7. Rinse the fabric in cold water. Wash in warm water and dry away from the sunlight and direct heat.

Hints and tips:

  • Normal colour mixing rules apply when using Dylon e.g. if you use a blue dye on red fabric it will make purple.
  • If you want to use Dylon to chance one strong colour to another it is advisable to use the Dylon Pre-Dye, which will lighten the fabric.
  • For a richer, fuller colour use double the recommended amount of dye.
  • If using the original Dylon you will need to add 500g of ordinary salt, however the “Dylon Now Including Salt” will not require any extra to be added.
  • Be as bold and adventurous as you want!

Dylon is available in store on online for worldwide delivery, so go on brighten up your life.
