Acetylcysteine 600mg Tablets form Essential Healthcare are suitable for adults over the age of 18 years only.
How To Take Acetylcysteine
Take one tablet each day, dissolved in water before use.
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days, you should talk to your doctor.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, you should talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. It's not known if Acetylcysteine passes into breastmilk, so it's not recommended to take Acetylcysteine when breastfeeding.
Warnings & Precautions
- If you have suffered from stomach ulcers, take care when taking Acetylcysteine as it could irritate your stomach wall.
- At the start of treatment, you may find an increased amount of sticky mucus, due to the mucus being liquified. If you can't cough all this mucus up, contact your doctor.
- If you are taking other medications, do not take them at the same time as Acetylcysteine and leave around 2 hour between the doses.
- Do not take a cough suppressant medication along with Acetylcysteine
- If you are takingGglyceryl Trinitrate (Nitroglycerin), the blood pressure lowering effect may be increased. Caution is advised.
- This medicine contains 20mg aspartame in each tablet. Thijs could be harmful if you have phenylketonuria
- This medicine contains 146mg sodium in each tablet. Take caution if you are on a sodium controlled diet.
