Who can use?
This product is for use in adults over the age of 18 only.
How to use?
You must not smoke whilst using these patches.
Adults: apply one patch at the same time each day (preferably first thing in the morning) to a clean, dry and hairless area of skin that is free from lesions. It is recommended the front or side of the chest, the back or the upper arm. Leave the patch on for 2 hours, then remove and dispose of before applying the next patch.
If you smoke less than this start with Step 2, the medium size Nicotinell TTS20 (14mg/24 hour) patches. Do not start with Step 3, the small size (7mg/24 hour) patches, they should only be used to complete the treatment.
If you need advice before starting to use nicotine patches, talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
It is not recommended to use any product which contains nicotine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
There are no known risks while driving associated with this medication, however, it is important to remember that stopping smoking may causes changes in your behaviour.
Taking other medication
If you are currently using (or are planning to use) any other medication, please speak to your doctor before starting this treatment. Coffee, acidic drinks (e.g. fruit juice) and soft drinks may decrease the absorption of nicotine and should be avoided for 15 minutes before using Nicotinell.
Possible side effects
Headache, stomach trouble such as feeling sick (nausea) vomiting, flatulence or heartburn, hiccups, increased saliva production, cough and irritation of the throat.
