Phenergan is an anti-allergy medicine. It helps control your allergic reaction and its symptoms. It is also used to relieve symptoms such as itching and hives. Phenergan helps with nausea and vomiting (e.g. travel sickness)
Who can take Phenergan?
Phenergan is suitable for adults and children over the age of 2 years.
Not Suitable for Diabetics
How to take Phenergan Oral Solution?
Do not take for longer than 7 days. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days please consult with your G.P.
For allergies (such as hay fever, rashes and hives)
Children over 10 years and adults (including the elderly):
- Start with two 5ml spoonful’s twice a day
- This may be increased to a maximum of four 5ml spoonful’s three times a day.
Children 5-10 years:
- Either a single dose of two to five 5ml spoonful’s OR one or two 5ml spoonful’s twice a day
- DO NOT give more than five 5ml spoonful’s a day
Children 2-5 years:
- Either a single dose of one to three 5ml spoonful’s OR one 5ml spoonful twice a day
- DO NOT give more than three 5ml spoonful’s a day
For travel sickness
Children over 10 years and adults (including the elderly):
- Five 5ml spoonful’s the night before the journey
- This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary
Children 5-10 years:
- Two 5ml spoonful’s the night before the journey
- This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary
Children 2-5 years:
- One 5ml spoonful the night before the journey
- This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary
If you are pregnant
Phenergan should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Exposure to Sunlight
Can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. It is best to keep out of direct sunlight while taking this product or use appropriate suncream
Driving and using machinery
You may feel drowsy or sleepy while taking Phenergan Oral Solution or in the morning after taking it. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machinery.
Common side effects
Dry mouth, blurred vision, feeling drowsy or dizzy, headaches, feeling restless, loss of appetite, indigestion
and feeling confused, especially elderly people.
