Product Info

SelfCheck Home Screening Menopause Test is an easy to use home test that determines whether you have had your last period and reached the post menopause stage. The SelfCheck Menopause test measures your Follicle-stimulating Hormone (FSH) levels. A constant high level of FSH - as high as 25mU/ml may indicate that your ovaries are not working and consequently no egg production is happening. With high FSH and menopausal symptoms, medical guidance can help you know whether you are still fertile or in menopause. This test will help determine how to manage your symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings etc.

  • Fast and reliable results within 10 minutes.
  • Contains 2 single tests.
  • Only a small sample of fresh urine is required.
How To Use

The test can be performed at any time of the day, but it is recommended to try first thing in the early morning.

Collect a sample of urine and dip the test strip into the collected sample for 3 seconds. Full instructions for use included

Results

  • If two purple lines appear in the result window, and the lower line is the same shade or darker than the upper line, then your result is positive.
  • You should repeat the test with the second test strip after exactly one week.
  • If both tests yield a positive result you can assume that you have reached post-menopause.

Warning

  • Please read the enclosed instructions for use carefully before performing the test.
  • Do not open the foil pouch until you are ready to perform the test.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Do not use if the foil pouch is damaged, or after the expiry date.

Why test for post-menopause?

Women reach menopause at an average age of 50. However, variations occur and women can reach menopause as early as 39, or as late as 69 years of age. This test allows the user to reliably identify whether they have gone through the menopausal transition or not.

When should the test be carried out?

For best results, the test should be carried out first thing in the morning.

Who is the test for?

Women who think they may have reached the stage of menopause or post-menopause.

What is menopause?

The last menstrual period. Periods stop because the low levels of oestrogen and progesterone do not stimulate the endometrium (lining of the womb) in the normal cycle. Hormone levels can fluctuate for several years before eventually becoming so low that the endometrium stays thin and does not bleed. Symptoms include hot flushes, vaginal itching and dryness, sweating, insomnia, depression, heart problems, low libido, dry eyes, painful joints and slow digestion.

What is the best action if the result is positive?

You should consult your doctor who can confirm the stage of menopause and advise on how best to manage individual symptoms.

How are the test components disposed of?

After use, all of the test components can be disposed of in the general household waste
