Sudafed Plus Nasal Spray 10ml

• Adults and children aged 6 and over: one spray into each nostril, up to 3 times a day, as needed.
• Before first use, press the spray head 5 times until a fine spray appears. If it has not been used for 7 days or more, press it twice first.
• Insert the tip as upright as possible into one nostril and press once while breathing in gently through your nose. Repeat in the other nostril. Wipe the tip with a tissue and replace the cap. Each bottle should be used by one person only.
• Adults: do not use it for more than 7 days. Leave a break of several days before using it again. See your doctor if you are no better, or feel worse, after 7 days.
• Children aged 6 to 12: an adult should supervise use. Always check with a doctor how long to use it, and see a doctor if your child is no better after 3 days.
• Use within 6 months of first opening.

Who should not use it

Do not use it if you are allergic to xylometazoline, dexpanthenol or any of the ingredients, if you have a dry, crusting inflamed nose (rhinitis sicca), or if you have had your pituitary gland removed or other surgery that exposed the lining of the brain. Not for children under 6.

Warnings & precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you take an MAOI antidepressant, a tricyclic antidepressant or another medicine that raises blood pressure, or if you have glaucoma (especially narrow-angle glaucoma), serious heart disease (such as long QT syndrome or coronary heart disease), high blood pressure, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, a phaeochromocytoma, porphyria or an enlarged prostate. Check with your pharmacist before using it with other decongestants (such as pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine or oxymetazoline), as this can increase side effects on the heart and nervous system. Do not use it with methyldopa. Using it for longer, or more often, than directed can cause long-term swelling and thinning of the nasal lining, so use it for long-term (chronic) rhinitis only under medical supervision, and too much can cause effects elsewhere in the body, especially in children. Keep it away from the eyes. It is not expected to affect driving.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not use it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Possible side effects

Frequency not known: burning or dryness inside the nose and sneezing. Uncommon: allergic reactions, such as swelling, rash or itching. Rare: palpitations, a fast heartbeat or raised blood pressure. Very rare: restlessness, difficulty sleeping, tiredness or drowsiness, headache, an irregular heartbeat, a blocked nose after stopping, nosebleeds, and hallucinations or fits, mainly in children.

Xylometazoline hydrochloride 1mg/ml and dexpanthenol 50mg/ml. Each spray (0.1ml) contains 0.1mg xylometazoline hydrochloride and 5mg dexpanthenol. Other ingredients: potassium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, water for injections.
