Find relief from the discomfort of cystitis and urinary tract irritation, plus products to help support urinary health. The range includes Cystopurin sachets, Utipro Plus, D-Mannose capsules and UTI test strips.

Managing cystitis at home

Mild cystitis in women often settles within a few days. Over-the-counter products such as potassium or sodium citrate sachets (like Cystopurin) work by reducing the acidity of urine to ease the stinging and burning, while cranberry and D-mannose products are popular for urinary support. Drinking plenty of water helps flush the system. Importantly, these products relieve symptoms — they are not antibiotics — so if symptoms are severe or don't settle, you may need to be seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do cystitis sachets cure the infection?

No. Sachets such as Cystopurin ease the burning and stinging by making urine less acidic, but they don't kill bacteria. A confirmed urinary infection may still need antibiotics from your GP.

When should I see a doctor or pharmacist?

Seek advice if symptoms are severe or last more than a couple of days, if there's blood in your urine, fever, back or side pain, or if you're pregnant, male, or it's a child — these need proper assessment. You can also use our online cystitis and UTI consultation service to be assessed for treatment.

Can I prevent cystitis coming back?

Staying well hydrated, not holding urine, and some people find cranberry or D-mannose products helpful. Discuss recurrent cystitis with your GP or pharmacist.
