Nurofen Ibuprofen Rapid Relief Max Strength 400mg - 20 Capsules

• Adults and children aged 12 and over: swallow 1 capsule whole with water, with or just after food.
• If needed, take 1 more capsule, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 3 capsules (1,200mg) in 24 hours.
• For short-term use. If you need it for more than 3 days, or your symptoms get worse, see your doctor.
• Not for children under 12.

Who should not use it

Do not take if you are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin or other anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs) or any of the ingredients; if you have ever had asthma, wheezing, a runny nose, swelling or a rash after taking these medicines; if you have, or have had, a stomach ulcer, bleeding or perforation; if you have severe heart, liver or kidney failure; if you are in the last three months of pregnancy; or if you are under 12.

Warnings & precautions

Do not take with any other medicine containing ibuprofen, aspirin or another NSAID. Take with or just after food. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have asthma or allergies, heart problems, high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, kidney or liver problems, or a history of stomach problems, or if you take blood thinners, steroids, antidepressants (SSRIs), water tablets, blood pressure medicines, lithium or methotrexate. Avoid during chickenpox. Drink plenty of fluids if you are dehydrated (for example after vomiting or diarrhoea), as dehydration raises the risk of kidney problems. Anti-inflammatory painkillers carry a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke, especially at high doses or with long-term use. Ibuprofen can hide the signs of an infection, and may reduce female fertility while you take it. Contains sorbitol: talk to your doctor before use if you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars. Contains Ponceau 4R (E124), which may cause allergic reactions.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not take in the last three months of pregnancy. Earlier in pregnancy, only take it if your doctor advises it, at the lowest dose for the shortest time; from 20 weeks, use for more than a few days can affect the baby's kidneys. Small amounts pass into breast milk, but short-term use at the recommended dose is not expected to harm a breastfed baby. Ask your pharmacist if unsure.

Possible side effects

The most common side effects affect the stomach: indigestion, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation or wind. Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have black or tarry stools or vomit blood, signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face or throat, wheezing, difficulty breathing), a severe skin reaction (blistering, peeling or a widespread rash), or chest pain or sudden weakness.
