Brolene Eye Ointment 5g is an antiseptic eye treatment used to help treat minor infections of the eye and eyelid, including conditions such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis. It contains dibrompropamidine isetionate 0.15% w/w, an antiseptic ingredient that helps combat infection-causing microorganisms and relieve uncomfortable symptoms.

How to use
  • Wash your hands and gently clean the affected eye or eyelid.
  • Pull down the lower eyelid and apply a small amount (about 1cm) of ointment inside the lower lid or along the eyelid, once or twice a day. Do not let the tube touch your eye.
  • Wash your hands afterwards. Vision may be blurred briefly after applying.
  • If your symptoms have not improved after 2 days, stop and see your doctor.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while using this ointment. It is sterile - throw it away 4 weeks after first opening.

Who should not use it?

Do not use if you are allergic to dibrompropamidine isetionate or any of the ingredients (including wool fat), or if you wear contact lenses - you should not wear contact lenses while using this ointment.

Warnings & precautions

For use in or around the eye only. Contains wool fat (lanolin), which can occasionally cause a local skin reaction. Your vision may be blurred briefly after applying, so do not drive until you can see clearly. See a doctor if your eye is very painful, your sight is affected, there is swelling around the eye, or your symptoms do not improve within 2 days.

Possible side effects

Occasionally stinging, burning or irritation of the eye, or a skin reaction (rash, itching or redness) around the eye. Stop using it and seek advice if this happens.
