Canesten Cream 1 % Clotrimazole 20g

• Apply a thin, even layer to the affected area two or three times a day and rub it in gently.
• For athlete's foot, wash and dry the feet carefully first - especially between the toes.
• Keep going for at least two weeks, and up to four if needed. Stopping as soon as it looks better is the commonest reason a fungal infection comes back.
• If there is no improvement after four weeks, see your doctor.
• For external use only. If it gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse thoroughly with water.

Who should not use it

Do not use this cream if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the ingredients, including cetostearyl alcohol or benzyl alcohol.

Warnings & precautions

Clotrimazole damages latex - if you use it on or near the genitals, it can reduce the effectiveness of condoms and diaphragms, so use another form of contraception for at least five days after treatment. For external use only - do not swallow it. See your doctor if your symptoms get worse, or have not improved after four weeks.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

It can be used in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, but only under the supervision of your doctor or midwife. If you are applying it to the nipples, wash the area thoroughly before feeding.

Possible side effects

Irritation, burning, stinging, pain, itching, redness, rash, swelling, blistering, peeling skin or a pins-and-needles feeling where you applied it. Stop using it and get medical help straight away if you develop a widespread rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or dizziness.
