Product Information

Coming soon – arriving mid-August 2026. Viagra Connect Orodispersible Films are a brand-new format of Viagra Connect, Ireland's first over-the-counter erectile dysfunction treatment. Sign up to be notified and we’ll email you the moment they land in stock.

Viagra Connect 50mg Orodispersible Films are a new, discreet format of Viagra Connect, the over-the-counter erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment for men aged 18 and over. Each film contains sildenafil 50mg and simply melts on the tongue in seconds – with a pleasant mint taste and no need for water – so there is no tablet to swallow. Like all sildenafil medicines, it works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help you get and keep an erection when you are sexually aroused. This 4-film pack is an ideal starter supply for trying the new format.

Key features

  • New melt-on-the-tongue film format of Viagra Connect – no water needed
  • Sildenafil 50mg per film, with a pleasant mint taste
  • Thin, discreet film that dissolves on the tongue in seconds
  • Over-the-counter ED treatment for men 18+, after a quick pharmacist check
  • Starter 4-pack – ideal for trying the new format

How to use

  • Take one orodispersible film as needed, about one hour before sexual activity. Do not take more than one film in any 24 hours.
  • Peel open the foil pouch with dry hands – do not cut it open. Take out the film with a dry finger and place it straight onto your tongue, where it dissolves in seconds. You can take it with or without water.
  • It normally works within 30 to 60 minutes and can be taken up to 4 hours before sex. It only works if you are sexually aroused.
  • For the fastest effect, take it on an empty stomach; a heavy meal may delay how quickly it starts to work.
  • If you have taken Viagra Connect as directed and still cannot get or keep an erection firm enough for sex, talk to your doctor.

Safety information

Who should not use it

Do not use if you: are a woman, or are under 18; are allergic to sildenafil or any ingredient; take nitrate medicines for chest pain or use amyl nitrite “poppers”; take riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators; take ritonavir for HIV; have recently (within the last 6 months) had a heart attack, stroke, unstable angina or severe heart failure; have a severe liver problem or low blood pressure (below 90/50 mmHg); have ever had sudden vision loss from nerve damage (NAION) or a hereditary eye disease such as retinitis pigmentosa; or have a deformed penis. If you do not have an erection problem, do not take this medicine.

Warnings & precautions

Erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of a more serious condition such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, so arrange a check-up with your doctor within 6 months of starting to use Viagra Connect. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor first if you have a heart or blood-vessel condition, an erection that once lasted more than 4 hours, sickle cell anaemia, leukaemia, multiple myeloma, a stomach ulcer or bleeding disorder, or mild-to-moderate liver or severe kidney problems. Tell your pharmacist about all other medicines – especially alpha-blockers, itraconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine or sacubitril/valsartan. Avoid grapefruit juice, and do not drink a lot of alcohol as it can reduce the effect. Do not combine it with other ED treatments. It can cause dizziness or affect vision, so do not drive until you know how it affects you. Seek urgent medical help for an erection lasting more than 4 hours or any sudden loss of vision or hearing.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Viagra Connect must not be used by women.

Possible side effects

The most common side effect is headache. Others include nausea, indigestion, a stuffy nose, dizziness, facial flushing or hot flush, and a temporary colour tinge or blurring to your vision. Stop and seek urgent medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction (wheezing, swelling of the face, lips or throat), chest pain (do not use nitrates to treat it), or an erection lasting more than 4 hours.

Always read the label
