How to Use Canesten & Apply Correctly

For adults and children aged 12 years and over, follow these precise application steps:

1. Preparation: Before first use, pierce the protective tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and pressing down firmly.
2. Application: Apply the cream thinly and evenly to the area around the entrance of the vagina 2 to 3 times a day.
3. Technique: Gently smooth the cream into the affected skin. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application to prevent spreading the infection.
4. Partner Treatment: If treating a male partner, they should apply the cream to the end of the penis 2 to 3 times a day for up to two weeks.

Critical Safety Warnings & Precautions

When to Consult a Doctor Before Use: Do not use this product without professional medical advice if this is the first time you have experienced these symptoms, if you are unsure whether you have thrush, or if you have suffered from more than two thrush infections in the last six months.

Do not use Canesten Thrush Cream if you experience any of the following symptoms, as it may not be the correct treatment for you:

• Irregular or abnormal vaginal bleeding, or blood-stained discharge.
• Ulcers, sores, or blisters on the vagina or vulva.
• Lower abdominal pain, back pain, or shoulder pain.
• Pain or difficulty when passing urine.
• Fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea.
• A foul-smelling vaginal discharge.

Important Practical Precautions:

• Contraceptive Warning: This cream can significantly reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives, such as condoms or diaphragms. You must use alternative contraceptive precautions for at least five days after finishing this product.
• Intercourse: Avoid sexual intercourse while treating thrush to prevent transferring the active infection to your partner.
• Product Restrictions: Do not use tampons, spermicides, or other alternative vaginal products concurrently while using this cream.
• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Canesten Thrush Cream can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but only under the strict supervision of your doctor or midwife.

"Vaginal thrush is incredibly common and can be triggered by simple daily factors like taking a course of antibiotics, stress, hormonal changes, or even wearing tight jeans or synthetic underwear. While this 2% cream is excellent for stopping that agonizing external itch, remember that it only treats the outside symptoms. If you have internal symptoms like a thick, odourless white discharge, you will need to pair this cream with an internal treatment like an oral capsule or a vaginal pessary to clear the infection completely. To prevent future bouts, switch to cotton underwear, wash daily with plain water instead of perfumed soaps, and always wipe from front to back!
