What does the Sona range at Inish Pharmacy cover?
Sona is a broad, general-purpose supplement range rather than a niche one, so it is easiest to think of it in groups:

Which Sona multivitamin should I choose?
There are five adult options and the right one usually comes down to your age, how much you want in one tablet, and whether you need to avoid iron.
- MultiPlus One a Day — Sona MultiPlus One a Day is a complete multivitamin and multimineral with 35 vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, formulated to help support metabolism, cognitive function and the immune system. It also contains ginseng, lutein, lycopene and omega 3.
- MultiPlus Time Release — a one-a-day tablet with a time-release coating, available as a 60-tablet pack or a 30-tablet pack.
- MultiPlus Iron Free — Sona Multiplus Iron Free is formulated for adults who need to avoid extra iron in their diet.
- MultiPlus 50 Plus — Sona MultiPlus 50 Plus contains 29 essential vitamins, minerals and elements targeting energy metabolism, mental performance and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Balance — a one-a-day tablet with over 30 vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; the everyday entry point to the range.
Which Sona vitamin D3 strength should I take?
Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and it supports normal calcium absorption. Sona offers it across four strengths and several formats, which matters here in Ireland where sun exposure is limited for much of the year.
- D400 — 10µg (400IU) per tablet, 90 tablets. The product description notes this is the recommended daily amount during pregnancy.
- D 1000 — 1000IU per tablet, the most popular everyday strength. Also available as a 30-tablet pack or as orange-flavoured chewables.
- D 2000 — 2000IU of highly absorbable vitamin D per capsule, in 30 or 60 capsule packs.
- D3 & K2 Oral Spray — 1000IU of D3 plus 6µg of K2 per spray, giving 2000IU D3 and 12µg K2 in a daily adult dose, roughly 150 sprays per bottle.
What is the difference between the Sona vitamin C products?
Vitamin C helps support the normal function of the immune system and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. The difference between the Sona options is mostly strength and format.
- Revital C 1000mg effervescent — an orange-flavoured, sugar-free, vegan-friendly drink; also sold as a twin pack.
- C 1000 Complex — a high-strength time-release tablet with a citrus bioflavonoid complex. The C 1000 Complex time-release formula also supports the absorption of iron. Available in 30 or 90 tablets.
- Chewable C500 — a once-daily 500mg chewable, handy if you dislike swallowing tablets.
- Chewable Zinc with Vitamin C — a sugar-free strawberry chewable that is soothing to the throat.
Which Sona magnesium is right for me?
Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal energy metabolism, normal muscle function and the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. Sona splits its magnesium by elemental strength, so check the number on the front of the pack rather than the tablet weight.
- Magnesium 250mg — the gentlest starting point, 60 tablets.
- Magnesium 300mg with Vitamin B6 — magnesium sourced from seawater and combined with vitamin B6, 300mg per tablet.
- Magnesium 500mg — the highest strength, in 60 tablets or a 120-tablet pack that is free from dairy, egg, gluten, lactose, soy, wheat and yeast.
- Effervescent Magnesium 300mg — an orange-flavoured dissolvable tablet with vitamin B6, free from aspartame, dairy, egg, gluten, lactose, soy and yeast.
What does Sona offer for joints and mobility?
- Joint Plan — Sona Joint Plan combines naturally sourced glucosamine, chondroitin and omega 3 fish oil with ginger, MSM and the antioxidants copper, manganese, vitamin E and selenium for the care and maintenance of healthy joints.
- Glucosamine Sulphate 700mg — glucosamine is a major structural component of joint tissue and a building block for cartilage. Note that it is naturally sourced from shellfish, so it is not suitable if you have a shellfish allergy.
- Turmeric with Black Pepper 500mg — a vegan one-a-day capsule; the black pepper extract helps with the absorption of curcumin. A higher-strength Turmeric Max is also stocked.
- Calcium Complete — Sona Calcium Complete helps maintain normal bone, teeth and muscle function, and also contains vitamins B, C, D and E.
Which Sona omega-3 or fish oil should I choose?
- Omega 3 1000mg — Sona Omega 3 is formulated to help support and maintain normal brain and heart function, and provides omega 3, which the body cannot make efficiently and must obtain from the diet. Sold in 30 or 90 capsules.
- Omergan 1200mg — a higher-strength 1200mg capsule in a 90-capsule pack.
- Omergan Omega 3-6-9 — flax, fish and borage oil in equal proportions. Sona Omergan Omega 3-6-9 is formulated to help support and maintain normal blood cholesterol levels and the normal function of the heart.
- Krill Oil 500mg — Sona Krill Oil provides omega 3 fatty acids for vision, heart and brain health, with no unpleasant fishy aftertaste.
- Super Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg — an omega 6 option. Sona Super Evening Primrose Oil is a rich source of omega 6 GLA and vitamin E, which helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
What are the Sona options for gut and digestive health?
- Acidophilus Complete — Sona Acidophilus Complete uses gastro-resistant capsules so the probiotics reach the colon, and its three strains work together to help maintain a healthy digestive tract and immune system. 5 billion probiotics per capsule.
- Extra Strength Pro 25 Billion — a high-strength daily option with 25 billion per capsule, a 50:50 blend of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium BB-12.

Are there Sona supplements suitable for children?
Yes, and they are mostly liquids and chewables. Always follow the age guidance on the pack, and talk to us before giving any supplement to a very young child.
- MultiPlus Junior Max Liquid 200ml — Sona Multiplus Junior Liquid is a once-a-day supplement formulated to help support healthy growth in children, and helps with energy and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Orange flavour.
- MultiPlus Junior Chewable — Sona Multiplus Junior Chewable tablets are formulated to help with cognitive development and normal growth and bone development, and provide vitamin D, calcium, iodine and iron. Sugar-free strawberry teddy-bear tablets.
- Zinc Chewable 60 — a sugar-free strawberry chewable with zinc and vitamin C, stated as suitable for children aged 4+.
- Calcium 60 Chewable — calcium plays a key role in the maintenance of normal bones and teeth and contributes to normal muscle function. Suitable for adults and children, and useful on a dairy-free diet.
Which Sona products are formulated for pregnancy?
- PregnaPlan Complete — Sona PregnaPlan Complete provides the recommended levels of 20 essential nutrients including iron and folic acid, and folic acid is important for maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. One capsule daily, for before conception, during pregnancy and after.
- PregnaPlan Morning — Sona PregnaPlan Morning capsules contain over 20 nutrients including omega 3, omega 6, vitamin B6 and ginger, and are designed to suit all stages of pregnancy.
- D400 Vitamin D3 — often taken alongside a prenatal. Check with your midwife, GP or our pharmacists before combining products so you do not double up on any nutrient.
Can I take more than one Sona supplement at the same time?
Usually yes, but the thing to watch is doubling up rather than mixing. A multivitamin such as MultiPlus One a Day already contains vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and the B vitamins, so adding several single-nutrient products on top can push you past the recommended daily intake. Never exceed the stated dose on the pack. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. If you take prescription medication, or you need to avoid iron, ask our pharmacy team first — there is an iron-free MultiPlus for that reason.
