Benylin Dry Cough Syrup 125ml

• Adults and children 12 years and over: two 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) four times a day.
• Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
• Not suitable for children under 12 years, and do not use it to make a child sleepy.
• For short-term use. If symptoms persist, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Who should not use it

Do not use if you are allergic to diphenhydramine, dextromethorphan, levomenthol or any of the ingredients; if you have a lung disease; if you take (or have in the last 2 weeks) MAOI antidepressants; if you take SSRI antidepressants; or for children under 12.

Warnings & precautions

This medicine can make you sleepy - do not drive or use tools or machines if affected, and avoid alcohol. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have liver or kidney problems, prostate problems or difficulty passing urine, glaucoma, or a history of drug or alcohol dependence. It can lead to dependence, so use it only for a short time, and do not take it with other cough and cold medicines or other medicines containing diphenhydramine. It contains sugars, a small amount of alcohol and the colour Ponceau 4R (E124).

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Possible side effects

The most common are drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness. Stop use and seek advice if you have an allergic reaction, or signs of a rare but serious reaction (agitation, confusion, a fast heartbeat) that can occur if it is combined with certain antidepressants.

Each 5ml contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride 14mg, dextromethorphan hydrobromide 6.5mg and levomenthol 2mg. Contains sucrose, liquid glucose, ethanol and the colour Ponceau 4R (E124).
