Benylin Dual Action Dry Syrup 100ml

• Adults and children over 12 years: two 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) every 4-6 hours.
• Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
• Not for children under 12 years.
• Do not take with any other cough, cold or decongestant medicine. For short-term use only.

Who should not use it

Do not use if you are allergic to triprolidine, pseudoephedrine, dextromethorphan or any of the ingredients; if you have severe high blood pressure or severe heart disease, an overactive thyroid, or diabetes; if you take (or have in the last 2 weeks) MAOI antidepressants, or take SSRI antidepressants; if you are at risk of respiratory failure; or for children under 12.

Warnings & precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate problems, or liver or kidney problems. This medicine can make you sleepy - do not drive or use machines if affected, and avoid alcohol. Stop and get urgent help if you develop a sudden severe headache or vision changes, as rare effects on brain blood flow (PRES/RCVS) or the optic nerve have been reported with pseudoephedrine. It contains sugars and a small amount of alcohol, and can lead to dependence with prolonged use.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Possible side effects

The most common are drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness and difficulty sleeping. Stop use and seek advice if you have a fast or irregular heartbeat, an allergic reaction, or the rare warning signs above.

Each 5ml contains triprolidine hydrochloride 1.25mg, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30mg and dextromethorphan hydrobromide 10mg. Also contains sucrose, sorbitol, ethanol (4.8% v/v), levomenthol and the colour Ponceau 4R (E124).
