Brupro Ibuprofen Cold & Flu 24 Tablets

• Adults and children aged 12 and over: take 1 tablet every 6 hours if needed. For more severe symptoms, take 2 tablets every 6 hours if needed.
• Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
• Swallow the tablets whole with a large glass of water, ideally with food. Do not chew.
• Only take this if you have a blocked nose together with a headache or fever. If you have just one of these symptoms, ask your pharmacist about a single-ingredient medicine instead.
• Use the lowest dose for the shortest time needed. Talk to a doctor if your symptoms get worse, or if you need it for more than 4 days (adults) or more than 3 days (12 to 17 year olds).
• Do not take with other decongestants (tablets or nasal sprays), other ibuprofen or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Avoid alcohol while taking it.
• Not for children under 12.

Safety information

Who should not use it

Do not take Brupro Cold & Flu if you are allergic to ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine or any of the ingredients, or have had asthma, wheezing, a rash, a runny nose or facial swelling after taking aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller. Do not take it if you have, or have had, a stomach ulcer or bleeding (or bleeding linked to anti-inflammatory painkillers); severe heart failure, heart disease, angina or a fast heart rate; very high or uncontrolled blood pressure; a previous heart attack or stroke, or a risk of stroke; severe liver or kidney problems; an overactive thyroid; diabetes; a phaeochromocytoma; a history of seizures (fits); closed-angle glaucoma; difficulty passing urine due to prostate problems; lupus (SLE); or an unexplained blood disorder. Do not take it if you are taking methylphenidate (for ADHD) or MAOI antidepressants, or have taken an MAOI in the last 14 days. Not for children under 12, in the last 3 months of pregnancy, or while breastfeeding.

Warnings & precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you have asthma, high blood pressure, heart or circulation problems, liver or kidney problems, a history of stomach or bowel problems (including ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease), a bleeding disorder, or an infection, as ibuprofen can hide signs such as fever. Anti-inflammatory painkillers may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, so do not take more than the recommended dose or for longer than advised. Tell your pharmacist about any other medicines you take, especially blood thinners, blood pressure or heart medicines, steroids, antidepressants, diuretics or migraine medicines. Avoid it during chickenpox. Stop taking it a few days before surgery and tell your anaesthetist. It can affect some blood tests and can give a positive result in sports doping tests. It may cause dizziness or changes in vision or hearing; if so, do not drive or use machines. The elderly are more likely to get side effects.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not take Brupro Cold & Flu in the last 3 months of pregnancy. In the first 6 months, only take it if your doctor advises it. Do not take it while breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, think you may be, or are planning a baby.

Possible side effects

Common side effects include indigestion, tummy discomfort or pain, feeling or being sick, wind, diarrhoea and constipation. Less common effects include headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, restlessness, rash and itching. Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have a sudden severe headache, confusion, fits or changes in your vision; black or bloody stools or vomiting blood; sudden tummy pain or bleeding from the back passage; chest pain; or a serious allergic or skin reaction, such as swelling of the face, wheezing, shortness of breath, or a widespread rash with blistering, peeling or fever.
