Diclac Relief Diclofenac 1% Pain Relief Gel 100g

• Adults and children aged 14 and over: apply 2 to 4g of gel (a circle about 2 to 2.5cm across) and rub it gently into the skin over and around the painful or swollen area.
• Use it 3 to 4 times a day, depending on the size of the area. Do not use more than this in 24 hours, and do not double up after a missed dose.
• Wash your hands afterwards, unless your hands are the area being treated.
• Apply only to unbroken skin, and do not cover the area with a bandage or plaster.
• Use the smallest amount that works, for the shortest time. If you are no better, or feel worse, after 7 days, see your doctor.

Who should not use it

Do not use this gel if you are allergic to diclofenac or any of the ingredients, or if you have ever had asthma, wheezing, hives or a runny nose after taking aspirin, ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory painkiller. Do not use it on broken or damaged skin, or for children under 14. Do not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it, and never in the last 3 months of pregnancy.

Warnings & precautions

For use on the skin only. Keep it away from the eyes and mouth; if gel gets into your eyes, rinse them with clean water. Avoid strong sunlight on treated skin. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you have asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps, long-term lung disease (COPD) or a tendency to allergic skin rashes, itching or hives; kidney or liver problems; a past stomach ulcer or bleeding, or inflammatory bowel disease; lupus, a bleeding disorder or porphyria; or if you are elderly. Tell them about other medicines, especially other anti-inflammatory painkillers, blood thinners, steroids, lithium, SSRI antidepressants, digoxin, water tablets or blood-pressure medicines, methotrexate, ciclosporin, diabetes tablets or certain antibiotics (aminoglycosides or quinolones). It does not usually affect driving, but it may cause blurred vision, dizziness or drowsiness. If it does, do not drive, and tell your doctor.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not use it in the last 3 months of pregnancy. In the first 6 months, use it only if your doctor advises it, at the lowest dose for the shortest time. Do not use it while breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it. Never apply it to the breasts, to large areas of skin, or for a long time.

Possible side effects

Burning where the gel is applied and dry skin can occur, and skin can rarely become sensitive to sunlight. If it is used on large areas or for a long time, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea can very rarely occur. Stop using it and get medical help straight away if you get swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, wheezing, chest tightness or feel faint, or a blistering, peeling or red-purple skin rash.

Diclofenac sodium 1% w/w (10mg per gram). Contains a perfume with fragrance allergens, which may cause allergic reactions, and isopropyl alcohol. Also contains lecithin.
