Product Information

Dozol Sugar-Free Oral Solution provides effective relief from pain, fever, teething discomfort and sleeplessness associated with minor childhood illnesses such as colds, flu and post-immunisation reactions.
It contains two active ingredients:

  • Paracetamol (120 mg/5 ml) – a pain reliever and fever reducer.

  • Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (12.5 mg/5 ml) – an antihistamine that helps settle irritability and restlessness so your child can rest more comfortably.

Dozol is suitable for children aged 2 years and over and comes with a dosing syringe for accurate, easy measurement.

Pharmacist Advice

At Inish Pharmacy, our pharmacists find Dozol can be helpful for short-term relief of fever, pain or disturbed sleep as a result of the conditions listed above . Because it contains both paracetamol and an antihistamine, it can also help children settle when discomfort interferes with rest.

Always follow the correct dosage carefully, and avoid using other medicines containing paracetamol or diphenhydramine at the same time.

If your child’s symptoms do not improve, or worsen after a few days, speak to your pharmacist or GP.

How to use

How to Give Dozol

  • For oral use only.
  • Always use the provided dosing syringe for accuracy.
  • Children aged 2–12 years:The dose depends on age (see below).Typical dosage: 5 ml to 20 ml up to three times daily, leaving 6 hours between doses.
  • Do not exceed three doses in 24 hours.
  • Do not give to children under 2 years.

If you miss a dose, wait at least six hours before the next one — never double up to make up for a missed dose.

  • 2 to 4 years: 5ml, up to three times daily
  • 4 to 6 years: 7.5ml up to three times daily
  • 6 to 8 years: 10ml up to three times daily
  • 8 to 10 years: 15ml up to three times daily
  • 10 to 12 years: 20ml up to three times daily

Who Should Not Use Dozol

Do not give Dozol if your child:

  • Is under 2 years of age.
  • Is allergic to paracetamol, diphenhydramine, or any ingredients in this medicine.
  • Has epilepsy, porphyria, or a rare sugar intolerance (hereditary fructose intolerance).
  • Is taking MAOIs (used for depression) or other medicines containing paracetamol or antihistamines.

Use with caution if your child has liver or kidney problems, or is being treated for serious illness.
Always check with a pharmacist before giving Dozol alongside other medicines, especially flucloxacillin, as certain drug interactions may affect blood chemistry.

Possible Side Effects

Dozol is generally well-tolerated when used correctly.
However, side effects can include:

  • Drowsiness (supervision is recommended).
  • Dry mouth, upset stomach or mild dizziness.
  • Rarely, allergic reactions, jaundice, or movement difficulties.

If your child shows signs of an allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing) or unexpected bruising or bleeding, stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately.

Storage

  • Store below 25 °C, in the original carton to protect from light.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Dispose of any unused medicine safely via your pharmacist.
