Flixonase Allergy Relief Fluticasone Nasal Spray

• Shake the bottle well and remove the cap.
• Blow your nose gently. Close one nostril with a finger, put the nozzle into the other nostril and tilt your head forward slightly, keeping the bottle upright.
• Start breathing in slowly through your nose and press the pump once to release a spray. Breathe out through your mouth. Repeat for any second spray, then do the same in the other nostril.
• Usual dose: two sprays into each nostril once a day.
• Once your symptoms are under control, you may be able to reduce to one spray into each nostril once a day. If your symptoms are bad, you can use two sprays into each nostril twice a day. Never use more than 8 sprays (400 micrograms) in a day.
• Use it regularly. It can take 3 to 4 days to build up to its full effect.
• If your symptoms have not improved after 7 days, stop using it and speak to your doctor. Do not use it for more than 6 months unless your doctor tells you to.
• After use, wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap.

Who should not use it

Not for anyone under 18. Do not use if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any of the ingredients.

Warnings & precautions

Check with your doctor before use if you have a high temperature or a cold, have or have recently had a nose or sinus infection, or have recently had surgery, an injury or ulcers in your nose. Tell your pharmacist about any other medicines you use, especially other corticosteroids (including eczema creams, asthma inhalers, tablets, injections, nasal sprays and eye or nose drops), ketoconazole for fungal infections, and the HIV medicines ritonavir or cobicistat, which can increase its effects. Contact your doctor if you notice blurred vision or other changes to your sight. Contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride, which may irritate or cause swelling inside the nose, especially with long-term use.

Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

Possible side effects

Nosebleeds are very common. Headache, an unpleasant taste or smell, and dryness or irritation of the nose or throat are common. You may sneeze just after using the spray, but this soon stops. Very rarely, eye problems such as pain, nasal pain or persistent bleeding, sores in the nose, or small holes in the wall inside the nose. Stop using it and get medical help straight away if you have an allergic reaction, such as a rash, swelling of the mouth or face, or difficulty breathing.

Fluticasone propionate 50 micrograms per spray. Also contains microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, glucose, polysorbate 80, purified water, dilute hydrochloric acid and the preservatives benzalkonium chloride and phenylethyl alcohol. 60 sprays per bottle.
