Gaviscon Infant Sachets 30 Pack

• Use only on the recommendation of a doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional.
• Bottle-fed infants: mix each sachet into 115ml of feed in the bottle, shake well and feed as normal.
• Breastfed infants: mix the sachet with 5ml (1 teaspoon) of cooled boiled water to a smooth paste, add a further 10ml (2 teaspoons) of cooled boiled water, mix, and give part way through each feed. For weaned infants, give at the end of each meal.
• Dosage is by bodyweight: under 4.5kg, one sachet per dose; 4.5kg and over, two sachets per dose.
• Do not give more than 6 doses in any 24 hours.
• Your child's condition should be reviewed by a healthcare professional 7 days after starting treatment, or sooner if symptoms get worse.

Who should not use it

Do not use if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients, has a known or suspected intestinal blockage, has diarrhoea, or has known or suspected kidney problems. It is not to be used where your child is losing a lot of fluid - for example with a fever, vomiting, diarrhoea or gastroenteritis needing rehydration. Not suitable for premature infants, or for infants under 1 year, except under medical supervision.

Warnings & precautions

Give the correct amount of fluid with each dose and do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours. Stop and seek advice if your child develops diarrhoea, vomiting, a fever, or a swollen or hard tummy. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if your child is taking any other medicine.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Not applicable - this medicine is given to infants and young children, not to adults. It can be used for both breastfed and bottle-fed babies.

Possible side effects

Constipation or diarrhoea can occur. Rarely, a blockage of the bowel or a mass of undigested material in the stomach has been reported, and allergic reactions including severe reactions are possible. Seek medical help straight away if your child has severe tummy pain, a swollen abdomen, is not passing stools, or shows signs of an allergic reaction.

Each sachet contains sodium alginate 225mg and magnesium alginate 87.5mg. Each dose contains 21mg of sodium.
