Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray

• Shake the bottle gently before each use.
• Before first use, prime the pump by pressing it 5 times until a fine spray comes out. If you have not used it for more than 2 weeks, spray once into the air before use.
• Blow your nose gently. Close one nostril with a finger, put the nozzle into the other nostril and tilt your head forward slightly, keeping the bottle upright.
• Start breathing in slowly through your nose and press the pump once to release a spray. Breathe out through your mouth. Repeat for any second spray, then do the same in the other nostril.
• Usual dose: two sprays into each nostril once a day.
• Once your symptoms are under control, reduce to one spray into each nostril once a day.
• It can take 3 to 4 days before you notice your symptoms getting better. If they have not gone after 14 days, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use it for longer than 3 months without talking to your doctor.
• To clean, pull off the nozzle, soak the nozzle and cap in warm water for a few minutes, rinse under cold running water, let them dry and refit.
• Use within 1 month of first opening.

Who should not use it

Not recommended for anyone under 18. Do not use if you are allergic to triamcinolone acetonide or any of the ingredients.

Warnings & precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have an untreated infection in your nose or throat, have recently had surgery on or an injury to your nose, have ever had glaucoma or cataracts, or are switching to this spray from steroid tablets or injections. Some medicines can increase its effects, including the HIV medicines ritonavir and cobicistat, so tell your pharmacist about any other medicines you take. Contact your doctor if you notice blurred vision or other changes to your sight.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning a baby or are breastfeeding.

Possible side effects

Common side effects include a runny nose, headache, sore throat, cough, nosebleeds, bronchitis, heartburn, flu-like symptoms and tooth problems. Other reported effects include irritation or dryness of the nose, a blocked sinus, sneezing, changes to taste or smell, nausea, sleep problems, dizziness, tiredness, shortness of breath, cataracts, glaucoma and blurred vision. Stop using it and get medical help straight away if you have an allergic reaction, such as a rash, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing.

Triamcinolone acetonide 55 micrograms per spray. Also contains microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, polysorbate 80, anhydrous glucose, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride and purified water. 30 sprays per bottle.
