Rowachol Gastro-resistant Capsules are a specialised treatment used to assist in the dissolution and expulsion of gallstones. Formulated with a unique blend of plant-derived terpenes, Rowachol works by increasing natural bile production and relaxing the bile ducts, which helps to reduce painful spasms and makes it easier for gallstones to be passed.

These soft, green gelatine capsules are designed to be "gastro-resistant," meaning they pass through the stomach and release their active ingredients directly where they are needed most.

How to use

How to Take Rowachol to Treat Gallstones

Always take Rowachol exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by your healthcare professional. Do not take Rowachol unless your doctor has confirmed a diagnosis of gallstones especially in the case of children.

  • Adults: The recommended dose is 1 to 2 capsules, three times daily, taken before meals.
  • Children (6–14 years): The recommended dose is 1 capsule, twice daily, taken before meals.
  • Adolescents (14–18 years): Take 1 to 2 capsules, three times daily, before meals.
  • Administration: Swallow the whole capsule. Do not bite or chew the capsules.
  • Storage: Do not store above25∘C.Keep the container tightly closed.

Important Safety Information

Who Should NOT take Rowachol?

Do not take Rowachol if you:

  • Have not had a diagnosis of gallstones confirmed by a doctor. This is especially important for children.
  • Are allergic to any of the active substances (a-pinene, b-pinene, menthol, menthone, camphene, borneol, cineole) or other ingredients like virgin olive oil or the preservatives E215 and E217.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding without first seeking medical advice. Rowachol is not generally recommended in these instances.
  • Are a child under 6 years of age, as no data is available for this age group.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking if:

  • You are taking blood-thinning medicines (oral anti-coagulants like warfarin).
  • You are taking any medicines that are broken down by the liver.

Possible Side Effects

While not everybody gets them, Rowachol can cause side effects. If you experience any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The capsules contain sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E215) and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217), which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
