How Nexium Control works

Unlike antacids that neutralise acid on contact for quick, short-term relief, Nexium Control lowers acid production at the source. It's intended for frequent heartburn — for example symptoms on two or more days a week — and is taken as a short course rather than as a one-off. It can take a day or two to reach full effect. For occasional heartburn, an antacid or alginate such as Gaviscon may be more suitable.

How long does Nexium Control take to work?

Some people feel relief on the first day, but it may take 2–3 days of daily use for the full effect. It is not designed for instant relief of a single episode.

How long can I take it for?

It is intended for short-term use. Do not take it for longer than the pack states without medical advice, and see your doctor if your symptoms don't improve within two weeks.

When should I see a doctor?

See your doctor before use if you have difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, or black or bloodstained stools.
