Easolief Duo Hot Drink Max Strength 1000mg/300mg 10 Sachets

• Empty the contents of one sachet into a mug and dissolve it completely in a glass of hot water.
• Adults over 18: take one sachet at a time. One sachet is a full dose, so do not take two.
• Leave at least six hours between doses. Do not take more than 3 sachets in 24 hours.
• Take it with or straight after food.
• Do not take it for more than 3 days. Talk to your doctor if you are no better, or feel worse, after 3 days.
• Take the smallest dose that controls your pain, for the shortest time.

Who should not use it

Not for anyone under 18. Do not take it if you are allergic to paracetamol, ibuprofen or any of the ingredients, or if aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller has ever caused wheezing, asthma, a rash, hives or swelling of the face. Do not take it if you have or have had a stomach or duodenal ulcer, or bleeding or a hole in the stomach or gut after taking an anti-inflammatory; if you have severe heart, liver or kidney failure; if you have bleeding in the brain or other active bleeding, or a blood-forming disorder; if you are severely dehydrated; or if you are in the last three months of pregnancy. Do not take it alongside any other product containing paracetamol or ibuprofen, or with aspirin above 75mg a day, salicylates or any other anti-inflammatory painkiller.

Warnings & precautions

Never take this with any other paracetamol product — taking too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage, and the damage may not be obvious at the time. Equally, do not take it with another anti-inflammatory painkiller or with aspirin. Do not exceed 3 sachets in 24 hours, and do not take it for more than three days without speaking to your doctor. Take it with or straight after food. Do not drink alcohol while taking it, as the combination can damage the liver. If you drink heavily, are dehydrated or are undernourished, do not take more than 2 sachets in 24 hours unless your doctor tells you to — and talk to your doctor first. Anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen carry a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke, particularly at high doses and with long-term use. Do not use it while you have chickenpox. Take care if you have asthma or a history of allergy, kidney, liver or heart problems, high blood pressure, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, or if you take blood thinners, steroids, lithium, methotrexate, water tablets, blood-pressure medicines, SSRIs or the antibiotic flucloxacillin — ask your pharmacist if you are unsure. A rare but serious problem called metabolic acidosis has been reported, mostly in people who are seriously ill, undernourished, drink heavily or take flucloxacillin; get urgent help if you develop deep, rapid breathing with drowsiness, nausea and vomiting. It can also mask the signs of an infection such as fever and pain.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Do not take it in the last three months of pregnancy, as it could harm your baby or cause problems at delivery. In the first six months, take it only if your doctor says you need to; from 20 weeks, taking it for more than a few days can affect the baby's kidneys and the fluid around them. The leaflet says it may be used while breastfeeding at the recommended dose and for the shortest possible time. Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines that can make it harder to become pregnant; this reverses when you stop taking it.

Possible side effects

Side effects that may affect up to 1 in 10 people include stomach pain, heartburn, feeling or being sick, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, a skin rash, itching, ringing in the ears, fluid retention, and changes in liver or kidney blood tests. Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you vomit blood or something that looks like coffee grounds, pass black or bloody stools, develop swelling of the face, lips or tongue, wheezing or shortness of breath, a severe or blistering rash, or a fever with a stiff neck.

Each sachet contains paracetamol 1000mg and ibuprofen 300mg (as ibuprofen lysine).

Also contains: aspartame (E951), turmeric extract 95%, lemon flavour, sodium citrate and sucrose.

Contains 125mg of aspartame per sachet, a source of phenylalanine — not suitable if you have phenylketonuria (PKU). Contains sucrose: talk to your doctor first if you have been told you cannot tolerate some sugars. Contains 28mg of sodium per sachet, which is worth knowing if you are on a low-salt diet.
