Voltarol

Voltarol Emulgel contains diclofenac, an anti-inflammatory that's applied directly to the skin to relieve muscle, joint and back pain, and sprains and strains. Choose from Voltarol Emulgel 1% or the stronger Extra Strength 2% for twice-daily application.

How Voltarol gel works

Applied to the affected area, diclofenac gel targets local pain and inflammation with less absorbed into the body than tablets. It's popular for sports injuries, back pain, and aches in muscles and joints. Massage it gently into the skin and wash your hands afterwards. The Extra Strength 2% gel is applied twice a day, which some people find more convenient.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between 1% and 2% Voltarol?

Both contain diclofenac. The 2% Extra Strength gel is more concentrated and typically applied twice daily, while the 1% gel is usually applied more often. Choose based on convenience and the pack directions.

Where can I apply it?

Apply to intact skin over the painful muscle or joint. Do not apply to broken or diseased skin, wounds, or the eyes and mouth, and avoid covering with a tight dressing.

Who should avoid it?

Avoid if you're allergic to diclofenac, aspirin or other anti-inflammatories, or if these have triggered asthma or skin reactions. Ask your pharmacist if pregnant, as it should be avoided especially in late pregnancy.
